Grade 4 Welcome Letter

Grade 4 Welcome Letter

Dear Grade Four Parents/GuardiansWelcome to Muriel Clayton Middle School!

In four short months, Muriel Clayton Middle School will welcome approximately 160 students from A.E.Bowers Elementary and Nose Creek Elementary Schools into Grade 5. To support your student's transition process, we are inviting parents and guardians to a virtual open house. May 25th and 26th at 5:30pm, we will have a presentation by administration and then we will provide a virtual tour of the school. Members of our grade 5 team, learning support and administration will be available at this virtual open house. To make sure we can support the potential numbers in our virtual open house, we will be splitting up the presentations between feeder schools. A.E. Bowers will take place on May 25th and Nose Creek will happen on May 26th.Links to these events will be sent out in a separate communication.

Next week our administrative team is planning to drop into on line grade 4 classes to introduce ourselves.A group of grade 8 students have prepared a fun introduction video for our future Clippers to enjoy, and we will be sharing it with the students during these visits. It gives a great look at the school and what it means to be a Muriel Clayton student. The students worked hard on it and are excited to have it shared with our incoming grade 5s.

In addition to these visits and video, there is a lot of work done behind the scenes. There are several meetings between our teachers and the grade 4 teachers where we review each student and their academic programming and discuss classroom placements for the upcoming school year. While we do accept written information from parents regarding student academic, social, emotional and/or behavioural needs that might impact classroom placement, we do not accept requests for individual teachers. Starting at the end of May, families from our feeder schools will start to receive our Clippers Connect newsletter. Our hope is that receiving our newsletter will help you get a sense of the school community.

If you have concerns or questions about your child's transition into the middle years, please do not hesitate to contact us between now and the end of June, or at any time in the years to come. We encourage you to involve yourself in School Council, volunteer when possible, and attend school events.

Thank you for becoming part of our Crew. Go Clippers !!
