Parent Letter (in-school or online)learning method

Jan. 8, 2021

Dear RVS Parents/Guardians,

The period to decide the learning method (in-school or online) for students in Grades 1 to 9* this spring is quickly approaching. SchoolEngage will open at 8 a.m. on Jan. 11. Families will have until 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 to commit your child to a learning method from Feb. 8, 2021, until the end of the school year. If no selection is made, those students will remain in their current learning method.

*Grade 9s at Chestermere Lake Middle, Indus, Langdon, W.G. Murdoch, Prince of Peace and Beiseker will make their selection between Jan. 11 and 15 given how their timetable is arranged; Grade 9s in high schools have already made their selections.

Rocky View Schools (RVS) understands this is a difficult decision for some families. Additional information to support you is available on the RVS website. This includes updates to the COVID-19 Information for 2020/21 School Year section of our website, an updated overview of our RVS Online Learning offering and a video walking you through how to make your selection using SchoolEngage through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Families of children who are of eligible kindergarten age this school year and did not send them to in- school learning in the fall, may choose to do so at any time before the end of the school year. There is no online option for these students. Please contact your school’s office directly for more information.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to make your selection(s) when SchoolEngage opens Jan. 11. Whatever the choice is for your family, we look forward to teaching them in-school or online throughout 2020/21.

Sincerely,

Greg Luterbach

Superintendent of Schools
