Learning Commons

Welcome to the Muriel Clayton Middle School Learning Commons!

A Learning Commons is an inclusive, flexible, learner-centered space for collaboration, not just a repository for books. It is where learning meets creativity and collaboration meets genius. It's where ideas are hatched for tomorrow's leaders.

Our Learning Commons is used as:

  • An area for larger group presentations/meetings
  • An interactive place for Clubs to generate ideas and execute their plans
  • A gathering place for students to inquire about books and other printed materials

The Learning Commons Coordinator is there to help you with finding books, and is a great support and resource of information.

If you have any questions or need assistance finding a resource, please reach out to Mrs. Abdallah via email

Students are allowed to check out up to a limit of 2 books at any given time. This does not include the textbooks signed out for the school year

The standard loan period is 3 weeks, but students may exchange items as often as they wish during school hours.

Please encourage your child to take care of their books by:

  • Carrying books in a bag
  • Keeping books dry
  • Washing hands before handling books
  • Keeping food and drinks away from books
  • Turning pages with care
  • Keep books away from younger siblings and pets

Students are responsible for the books they check out.

At MCMS we do not charge fines for late books, however, we do charge a fee if a book is irreparably damaged or lost.

If a book is lost or damaged, the student will be responsible for paying the full replacement cost.

Lost or damaged books must be paid for before a student will be allowed to sign out new material.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
